My wife and I stopped in for a light lunch, and it was delightful. My wife had a salad that was very fresh and tasty. I had a chicken salad sandwich and the meat was moist and tender. We were so pleased by this small, local shop that we came back later for fresh-baked cookies and Hershey's ice cream. The woman at the counter was friendly and quick. If I lived in Berkeley Springs, I'd definitely be a "regular" here.

Pros: - cute little cafe and atmosphere - friendly staff - awesome breakfast wrap (with sausage) Cons: - be prepared to stand in line for a while in a narrow hallway (if it's busy) - muffins are too oily

Wonderful little cafe with so much charm. Located right in the heart of Berkeley Springs, right next to the museum and park. They offer some healthy menu options (breakfast wraps, morning muffins, etc.) and the warm service kept me coming back during my visit to this neck of the woods. Many of their offerings have a gourmet flair, so the picky health nut won't go hungry :) Be prepared to wait a bit, the service can be a little slow but it's worth it. During weekends, they open up their small bar area to live bands and the place fills up. You can buy tickets in advance or at the door and reserve your table. How cool!

A nice coffee place to come if you are at the apple butter festival in Berkeley springs, wv. I wanted some coffee and noticed this place so I went in. The coffee tasted really good.

Stopped here for our first meal in town for our long weekend vacation. I tried the avocado reuben-- it was nice to try a different vegetarian sandwich, though it would have greatly benefitted from some additional acid. The cafe was cute, which what seemed like plenty of seating for a town this size. My friends had the chicken, broccoli, and cheddar quiche (smaller portion of quiche than I expected to see, served with a good sized side salad), and a turkey and avocado wrap, they both enjoyed what they had. Overall it was a nice place, nothing spectacular but not bad, with a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, etc, and a quaint location.

Coffee Review for Take Out... Thank goodness for little, locally-owned coffee shops. As much as I love the "comfort" of a good Dunkin' Donuts almond milk iced coffee, or a new-fangled Starbucks coconut milk latte, there's something about the love and craft that goes into a local shop and their unique variety of bean roasts. That, and their (usually) more passionate employees and reasonable prices - that was definitely the case at Fairfax on a weekend afternoon when a caffeine pick-me-up was needed after a massage and mineral water soak from the spa across the street. Rest assured that this shop has all traditional dairy milk options, in addition to almond milk and soy milk. They also craft house-made Italian sodas, myriad teas, and lots of fresh pastry and muffin items, including gluten-free brownies and cookies which are rich and delicious! Obviously, prices are reasonable here, with minor upcharges for non-dairy milk, and they do have a full seating area with a large selection of breakfast and lunch food items (neither of which I can review, as I was just in for coffee). Internet was free and signal was strong, even from outdoor tables. I can see how this place can get cramped with the queue for ordering and the standing-around waiting for beverages, but isn't that the case with any charming little coffeeshop? Anyway, the one bit of advice I would like to provide (and maybe suggest that other patrons request) - the hot drinks are WAY too hot - so much so that even with a cup jacket, I couldn't hold onto the cup...it's one thing if I order a drink "Extra Hot;" it's another if I can't comfortably walk around holding my coffee cup. Nevertheless, the almond milk latte was delicious - and I added a touch of coconut extract (unsweetened) for a nice addition. They of course have sweetened and sugar-free syrups as well. Stop in for a drink and a snack pre- or post-massage or stroll about town with your treat; just make sure your cup isn't too hot!

Great breakfast options. I recommend their homemade quiche, they usually offer two varieties daily so be sure to ask what is available. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are also quite good. Of course they have a large selection of coffee drinks. But you have to be patient, they only have a small staff and so they can get quite busy.

The Greek chicken and feta sandwich was a good choice for the first warm spring day of the season. Served panini style with an implied Greek homage that suggests it caters more to an American palette versus an authentic Mediterranean dish. Authenticity aside, it was tasty. The potato salad was the side dish of choice and tasted like it was handmade. The side dishes are small, but a quality product is worth it's weight in gold. The packaged meal came with a few gourmet jelly beans that helped satisfy a small fraction of your sweet tooth's hunger pangs. The coffee was as good as any big name coffee shop and was likely made with that all natural spring water that breaths life into the community and surrounding wildlife. No complaints here for the skim latte. The ladies at the front counter were cordial and wrapped up our meals with care for us to enjoy outdoors on this fine spring day. Verdict: hits the spot on sunny days for a sidewalk picnic. Small. Local. Fresh.

My wife and I travel through Berkeley Spring several times a year to visit family in Virginia. We had passed through the town numerous times lamenting the fact that we had yet to find a comfy, tasty eatery to make our midway stop. When we finally stumbled upon Fairfax, it was an instant favorite. Whether it's just a coffee and pastry stop or a full-on lunch break, they've got us covered with delicious options. The location is near a strip of small shops which make a great post-lunch walking tour and it's right across the street from a small park if you need some additional room to stretch your legs. If we ever get around to making Berkeley Springs our destination, this will for sure be a landmark on more than one occasion.

Go to this place for a sandwich or a specialty drink but not for its coffee. The coffee there is weak and bland. I've been there several times in recent years and twice in the last two days. I enjoy coffee and I enjoy good coffee. This place does not have any. You would be better off with gas station coffee.

Pretty good for a coffee house. I ordered an iced mocha and chocolate eclair. Good expresso flavor to the coffee and not sickeningly sweet, even with the chocolate syrup. The Barista was generous with the whipped cream and chocolate syrup after I expressed an interest in them. The eclair was...an eclair. Nothing earth shattering, but a large amount of filling. The upholstered chairs at the window looking out in to the park were a nice touch. Pillows would have topped it off nicely. Looks like a good place to meet friends--there's a surprising amount of room inside. Service was pleasant and knowledgable though forgetful of the eclair order until reminded. Giving four stars because the base coffee had the best flavor I've had in a long time and I appreciate the understanding of my appreciation of chocolate, coffee and whipped cream. :)

The coffee is amazing there! The iced white mocha is my favorite, but you really can't go wrong with any type. The food is excellent and the staff is always friendly. A nice place to meet friends, relax, work on projects, or just hang out. The food also varies from light snacks to a great lunch option, and there are vegetarian options as well (Not just salads.) I would recommend Fairfax to anyone!

Quick order/pick-up and convenient location in central town next to Springs are biggest value. Simple menu. OK prep. Pricey for just the basics. Simple tuna sandwich with $.50 chips and pickle $8.

Right across the street from the Berkeley Springs State Park, there is Fairfax Coffee House & Eatery. The service is always great here, and the pastries look amazing. They also have peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies. If you come on the right night, they also have live music. There is plenty of seating, and they also sell normal coffee shop favors like mugs, local honey, etc. Fairfax Coffee House & Eatery gets busy around lunchtime serving up sandwiches and soups. Their coffee is piping hot and just what you need on a morning when there is a nip in the air. Wireless access is open and fast enough when there are few people there. There aren't a ton of power outlets either.

Great little coffee place in the heart of Berkeley Springs. My wife and have stopped here for breakfast two days in a row. The drinks are awesome and the sandwiches just what you need to start the day. Very quaint, intimate place to chill out.

Why a 2 star? Who the heck closes at 5:00? So yes, I have experienced better. Anyplace that was actually open as a matter of fact. Bad form.

My bf and I stopped here ravenous for lunch after a massage across the street. This place is adorable and very cozy. They have a pretty good selection for lunch as well as unique coffee/latte flavor choices. I settled on the spinach salad with feta cheese instead of goat, plus I added chicken and a 'Romeo and Juliet' latte made with almond milk! It was a vanilla/cinnamon latte and so good! Sounds silly but the feta was the best I've ever had- a good salty bite and SO fresh and creamy! My bf got a chicken sandwich and he agreed- best meal of the weekend here! Everyone was friendly and patient when I altered my salad to how I wanted, prices very reasonable, and great selection for lunch and coffee! Definitely stop in here for a nosh or coffee kick!

I think probably the best thing about Fairfax Coffee House is the ultra-cool retro sign hanging out front. I wish I'd snapped a picture of it. Berkeley Springs makes me think of main street Hill Valley when Marty and Doc travel to 1955 in "Back to the Future" -- and the sign at Fairfax Coffee House is the proverbial icing on that little cake. Anyway. The interior is cute and they have local art for sale. The kids working the counter were nice. Coffee is roasted in small batches every week and brewed using water from the natural springs across the street. The cappuccino was fine, but our cups weren't filled up the whole way. Kinda lame.

Nice cozy little coffee shop with alot of specialty coffees and drinks. They have a nifty booth area in the front or a larger seating area off to the side. There is even a 'bar' area in the side area. Bathrooms were back and to the left, kind of behind the front coffee area. Very clean, 1-person bathroom. (men & women separate). I had a mocha and my husband had a Fairfax roast. We also split a danish. All items were good and service was friendly.

We toured the nearby shops on the way to and from our trip to Pennsylvania. The Vegetarian Reuben was the most amazing thing I had ever had and we had to come back for more. Peanut Butter cookies, the Pasta salad, the Peach Tea on a hot summer day are all enough to sooth the soul. Amazing and located so close to the springs. I especially enjoyed the magnetized words located on the wall between the bathrooms. They seem to have a small bar setup towards the back with a flat screen tv. Not sure how they use the space but I also noticed they had a stage of some sort that they may use for live music. Also if you plan to come here to enjoy the coffee, nearby shopping and wish to park close I recommend planning to bring Quarters for the 2 hour meters which are lined along the street in front of the shops.

1 star for the food I ordered which was the Vegetarian Panini by far the worst panini I've ever had but a few beers made it all better.

Stopped in here while visiting Berkley Springs--got a single macchiato and a breve, and both were delicious. The cashier/barista was able to give me good directions to nearby attractions and seemed really happy to be working there. They have some charming yellow tables outside on the street, which is full of cute little shops. There was a free concert in the park, and I enjoyed being able to relax at the outside tables while still being within hearing range of the music. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again!

We were searching for a lunch place and this was an excellent choice. I had spinach salad with apples, mandarin oranges, craisins and candied pecans...the dressing was a light raspberry vinaigrette....very, very excellent! My husband had 1/2 tuna sandwich with lentil soup, the day's special..another excellent choice!

Not bad for coffee and quick breakfast. They have a limited breakfast menu and recommended we go to Earth Dog (Lost Dog?) Cafe if we wanted anything more than that. Since we were just getting some food and coffee before leaving town, this was perfect. It was quiet so there wasn't a wait at all. I can't vouch for the food too much - I just had a toasted bagel and a side of home fries, but my latte was so good. I had the Barista Special which was called "The Hangover" - white mocha and tiramisu. I'm not exactly sure what they would put in to make it tiramisu-tasting but boy was it good. And I didn't get my normal post-coffee tummy queasiness which was a plus. They were also able to give me soy milk vs cow milk. The place is very cozy - we sat on plush chairs by the window which faced Berkeley Springs State Park where we found entertainment watching a guy make 5+ trips to the tap with 4 or more jugs each trip. Some weekend nights the cafe transforms into a bar and provides live music.

Here's why I like it: There's a section on the menu listed "Vegetarian Grilled Panini" and several spinach salads, as well as some additional sandwiches that are vegetarian -- and several of these could be made vegan. There aren't a whole lot of veg options around town, so this definitely gets my vote!

I gave FCH 5 stars for its excellent evening entertainment. Went to two shows and the caliber of each was extremely high, both were folk/Americana with a lot of banjo/fiddle/guitar/mandolin playing. The venue hold about 40 people. We have been in the back of the room as well as the front and both are good accoustics. For $8-10 a head cover and a few beers/coffee it makes for a great night out. Usually starts @8 and runs till 10p. there is a light fare menu as well. Enjoy!

My girlfriend and I had a great club sandwich and turkey reuben, both hit the spot. The potato salad was pretty good too. I would definitely go back if I needed a quick bite in a casual environment.
